SkyPad
iPad app development – Etihad Airways
SkyPad is the primary in-flight operations tool for Etihad Airways cabin crew. Built as a native iPad application with Swift and SwiftUI, it is deployed via MDM to a fleet of approximately 3,000 crew devices. The app provides crew with real-time access to critical operational data throughout the flight cycle.
Passenger Profiles & Special Service Requests
Crew can view comprehensive passenger profiles including fare entitlements, ancillary purchases, and elite guest preferences. Special Service Requests (SSRs) are surfaced prominently so crew can proactively address passenger needs before and during the flight.
F&B Service Coordination
The app streamlines food and beverage service management, allowing crew to coordinate meal services, track inventory, and accommodate dietary requirements and pre-ordered meals efficiently across cabin classes.
Multipeer Connectivity
Using Apple's Multipeer Connectivity framework, SkyPad enables crew devices onboard to communicate without internet or Wi-Fi connectivity. This allows crew to share live data — such as orders and inventory updates — in real time as they take orders from guests across the cabin.
Authentication & Infrastructure
- Okta SSO: Secure single sign-on authentication integrated for seamless crew access.
- Azure API Management (APIM): All REST API communication is routed through Azure APIM for security, throttling, and observability.
- AKS Backend: Microservices backend hosted on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) ensures scalability and reliability.
- CI/CD Pipelines: Automated build, test, and release pipelines for rapid iteration and quality assurance.

My Role
I led the entire team — mobile developers, backend engineers, testers, and UI/UX designers — managed the scrum team, interfaced with business stakeholders, and drove CI/CD pipelines, release management, and cross-team delivery across the CX Operations program at Etihad.
I manage two scrum teams (Jupiter & Mercury) under the Connected Ops Program and have successfully delivered SkyPad along with the companion IFM application.
